Helping Children Understand Their Emotions Through Authentic Photography

Hi, I'm Amy, and I created Little Moments, Big Feelings because I believe every child deserves to understand their emotions.

My Story

As both a certified early childhood educator and professional children's photographer, I've spent years working with families and watching children navigate their big feelings. Time and again, I noticed how children struggled to identify and express what they were feeling – not because they couldn't feel deeply, but because they lacked the tools to recognize and name those emotions.

During my years in the classroom, I searched for emotion recognition materials that felt authentic and relatable to young children. Most cards I found used cartoon illustrations or stock photography that didn't capture the genuine expressions children actually make. That's when I realized I could combine my two passions – child development and photography – to create something better.

  • My Mission

I believe that emotional intelligence is just as important as any academic skill. When children can recognize, name, and understand their feelings, they're better equipped to navigate relationships, solve problems, and build confidence. These cards are my way of giving every child – and their grown-ups – the tools they need for these important conversations.
